Ian Thompson Mortgage Services
You'll benefit from my three decades of experience of advising people in Derby on their mortgage. I've arranged thousands of mortgages in that time and I have over 200 five star reviews on Google. I am independent and have access to a large list of lenders, many of whom are only available through a mortgage broker. I've slowly got clients further afield as they have moved away from Derbyshire but continue to use me to review their mortgage.

And have then recommended me to their friends so I now have groups of clients all over the UK. I've been helping the self-employed people of Derby get mortgages for as long as I can remember. As I'm self-employed and independent, it's important to me that self-employed people know their full mortgage options. People come to me all the time saying their own bank, or current mortgage lender, won't help them because they are self-employed.

The way banks treat self-employed people varies greatly but a local mortgage broker like myself can reveal your full options.
Services
I began working in financial services in 1982 for Midland Bank in Derby until 1990 when I set up my own business.
Shortly after that, my two boys, Jamie and Robert, were born.
Jamie now works alongside me to support our ever-increasing group of clients.
Although sometimes I don't like to admit it, I am very proud to say that today I am securing mortgages for some of the grandchildren of my first clients!
The greatest compliment my clients can give is introducing me to their family and friends, which they do on a very regular basis.
Buying your first home should be exciting not scary.
There's a lot to get your hear round and you're probably here because you want somebody to help you with it all.
Scarily for me I've not helped my first client become a First Time Buyer who was born in the 2000s, but buying your first place can be scary whatever age you are.
You'll have everything explained to you in easy to understand terms and a mortgages designed to meet your specific needs, as well as guidance in the non mortgage things of buying a home.
It is important to have your mortgage reviewed regularly, especially a few months before you come to the end of your fixed rate period.
At this point you are usually able to switch lender without early repayment costs, or secure the best deal available with your current lender.
By working with me, you will have access to remortgage options with no arrangement fees, free valuations, free legal work, and even cashback.
If your circumstances have changed, for better or worse, requesting a mortgage review could open opportunities.
When you become a client of mine you get to focus on the exciting parts of buying a new home while I sort out your mortgage.
If your new home is still an aspiration, good advice and planning is essential to minimise obstacles and expense.
If you've found the perfect place and need to take action quickly, you'll benefit from my speed of service and flexibility.
Becoming a private landlord should not be seen as an easy way of making money.
It can be riskier and more complicated.
It can also be very time consuming, more than most forms of investment, and there is no guarantee that house prices will rise.
That said, having a second property to let to tenants could reap considerable financial rewards over time.
Rent Potential - the decision as to whether or not a mortgage will be offered is usually based on the rent you will earn as well as your income.
In some cases your income is not ever considered.
